After I got back from the trip, I downloaded lots of archived weather information from the internet, including maps and forecasts that covered the entire trip (and then some). It turned out to be so much stuff that I'm presenting it on a set of additional pages, listed below.
- Surface Analysis Weather Maps - These maps show the current weather for eastern North America, the western North Atlantic, the northern Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. The maps show highs and lows, fronts, isobars, and some wind speed and direction information. I have a whole set of maps covering November 2, 2007 through November 20, 2007 with four maps per day (every six hours). Visit this page to access the information.
- Satellite Weather Images - These are color-enhanced satellite weather images for southeastern North America, the western North Atlantic, the entire Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and northern South America (including Central America). The images have outlines around the land masses plus latitude/longitude lines. I have a whole set of images covering 0800 UTC November 2, 2007 through 1200 UTC November 21, 2007 with six images per day (every four hours). Visit this page to access the information.
- Wind/Wave Analysis Charts - These charts show the significant wave height (in feet) and the wind speed/direction for the western North Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico (unfortunately I wasn't able to find archived wind/wave charts that included the Caribbean). I have a set of charts covering 0000 UTC November 2, 2007 to 1800 UTC November 20, 2007 (November 18th is missing) with four charts per day (every six hours). Visit this page to access the information.
- Sea State Analysis Charts - These charts show the significant wave height (in meters) and the dominant wave direction for the North Atlantic, the extreme northern Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. I have a set of charts covering 1200 UTC November 1, 2007 to 1200 UTC November 20, 2007 (November 18th is missing) with one chart per day. Visit this page to access the information.
- Tropical Weather Discussions - These text files discuss tropical weather, including the tropical areas of the North Atlantic, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). I have a set of text files covering 0008 UTC November 2, 2007 to 1117 UTC November 22, 2007 with four text files per day.
- Hurricane Noel Forecast Maps - These maps show the current position and projected track of Hurricane Noel as it moved up the East Coast. I have five maps covering 8:00 PM EDT November 1, 2007 to 5:00 PM EDT November 2, 2007. This is when the National Hurricane Center stopped issuing advisories, even though the hurricane kept moving up the coast. Visit this page to access the information.
